You weren’t created to blend in — you were called to break through.
But if we’re honest, sometimes that calling feels too weighty. Too costly. Too public. So we settle. We make small decisions. We stay in small places. We pray small prayers.
And we call it wisdom.
But what if it’s not wisdom?
What if it’s fear in disguise?
Sometimes hiding doesn’t look like rebellion.
It looks like busyness.
It sounds like “I’m just waiting on God.”
It feels like playing it safe when in truth, it’s playing it small.
In Episode 2 of The Purpose Pursuit Podcast, we unpack the life of Esther — a woman who was divinely positioned but nearly paralyzed by fear. Esther wasn’t in the palace by accident. Her beauty may have brought her there, but it was her obedience that activated her purpose.
It wasn’t until Mordecai reminded her of the bigger picture that she understood: this wasn’t about comfort. This wasn’t about self-preservation. This was about assignment.
And the same is true for you.
We often underestimate the power of where we are. But what if your current role — as a mom, a manager, a ministry leader, a woman in transition — isn’t a detour but divine positioning?
Esther didn’t realize the weight of her placement until the moment demanded courage. Maybe your moment is here too.
Sis, let’s get real for a second. Sometimes we don’t even realize we’re playing it small—we just call it “being responsible” or “staying in our lane.” But if you find yourself doing these three things, you might be living in comfort and avoiding your calling:
1. You Say “Maybe Later” to What God Is Prompting You to Do.
You feel that nudge to start the business, lead the group, write the book, or serve in a new way—but you keep putting it off. You tell yourself, “I’ll do it when life slows down,” or “Maybe when I feel more qualified.”
Solution: Start with a small step today. Remember, delayed obedience is still disobedience. God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called. (Philippians 1:6)
2. You Hide Behind Busyness or Routine.
You keep yourself so busy with the everyday—work, family, errands—that you don’t have time to even think about your bigger purpose. You let your routine become your hiding place.
Solution: Make space for God to speak. Set aside ten minutes a day to pray, journal, or simply ask, “Lord, what are You calling me to do?” Sometimes, clarity comes in the quiet. (Psalm 46:10)
3. You Downplay Your Gifts and Influence.
You shrug off compliments, minimize your talents, or tell yourself, “Someone else could do it better.” You don’t see yourself as a leader or a difference-maker.
Solution: Speak truth over yourself. Write down what God says about you—chosen, equipped, called—and declare it out loud. Surround yourself with people who remind you of your purpose. (Ephesians 2:10)
Friend, if any of these sound familiar, you’re not alone. But you don’t have to stay there. God is calling you out of comfort and into courage. He’s inviting you to step up, speak out, and step into the purpose He’s placed on your life.
You were made for more.
Let’s stop playing small and start living bold—together.
🧭 The Power of Positioning
You are not misplaced. The “where” of your life — even if it looks mundane, messy, or misunderstood — is still a part of God’s plan. Purpose doesn’t only show up in stages and platforms. It shows up in kitchens, conference rooms, and quiet conversations.
🕊 The Sacred Stretch
Before obedience comes a stretch. And stretching never feels comfortable — but it always expands capacity. Esther had to stretch her courage beyond fear, her voice beyond silence, her faith beyond safety. That sacred stretch unlocked the favor that changed a nation.
🔎 Hiding vs. Growing
There’s a difference between hidden and hiding. Being hidden by God is preparation. But hiding from God (and others) is avoidance. One leads to growth. The other keeps you stuck. This blog will help you discern the difference — and take the next step with boldness.
No more shrinking.
No more sitting in the background.
No more playing it small.
God is calling you to rise — not just for you, but for them.
For the people on the other side of your yes!
